Welcome To SkyClerk
For years, SkyClerk has been an internal tool for its parent company, Cloudmanic Labs. Finally, it dawned on us: "Why the heck aren't we sharing this with the world?" Such a simple, elegant, and powerful tool should not be kept hostage, so in the spring of 2010 we released SkyClerk to the public, presenting a free version and a paid version for all to use.
How Did SkyClerk Come About?
Cloudmanic Labs has tons of business partners, given the nature of its business model. After reviewing every bookkeeping and accounting system that ever hit the market we could not find anything that allowed easy, transparent, shared accounting between business partners. Here are some of the most exciting principals we used when deciding to build SkyClerk. Also, checkout our mission page.
- All shrink-wrapped accounting software applications were out of the question. Why, you ask? Software on a CD is just lame, and it does not allow easy collaborative accounting for business partners not sharing the same computer. With SkyClerk all you need is a web browser - you can fire your "IT Guy"!!
- These days, every company wants to be paperless. What is the number one source of paper in small companies today? Yep, you got it, accounting-related paperwork. Doesn't it seem crazy that an accounting system does not allow you to attached scanned copies of invoices and checks to ledger items? We fixed that. Using SkyClerk you can attach as many invoices or checks to ledger entries as you want.
- Most small to medium-sized business owners are masters of their trade, not CPAs or CFOs. Bookkeeping is a challenge to many, and for most, it's not fun at all. Most people just want to file their ledger items and have a nifty little report to give to their accountant come tax season. Lots of the bells and whistles that come with bloat-ware accounting and bookkeeping software are purely annoying, confusing, and get in the way of simple and quick use of the application. We only implemented the most useful features and we made them dead simple to use.
- There are a handful of bookkeeping software packages and websites on the market today, but many of them are focused around the social media boom. Your finances are for you and you only. You do not want to share your finances with a "community" of supporters, or get unsolicited advice by some Internet dweeb that passed by. You will never catch us mixing your privacy with the social media world.
This might sound odd, but we do not want you spending much time using our product at all. If you are spending too much time in SkyClerk we failed. SkyClerk is simple, clean and quick to use.
What Is The Catch?
Nothing really. Many of our customers never pay us a penny since we have a free offering. We have designed SkyClerk to grow with you. SkyClerk will always scale with your business, whether you have one employee and a few transactions a month or hundreds of employees and thousands of transactions a day.
